Infiniti G37 Coupe vs Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Edmunds Inside Line posted a comparo pitting the Infiniti G37 Coupe vs the new Hyundai Genesis Coupe. On the face of it, seems like a fair comparison. The Hyundai was conceived to compete in this segment and the 2 cars are very close in size and specifications.

When they hit the road, though, their differences were laid bare. The Infiniti beat the Hyundai in every objective and subjective criteria. the G37 accelerated faster, handled better, was significantly more refined, and while the Hyundai gets credit for being good-looking (for a Hyundai) its styling pales in comparison to the famously gorgeous G.

So it seems obvious who won the comparison, right? WRONG. Somehow, inexplicably, Edmunds new math wound up giving the Hyundai the victory.

How? It all came down to cost. Edmunds calculations weight price at a massive 25% of the score, and the Hyundai's low price put it over the top.

Sure, the Hyundai is a good value. But take a good look at both of them, inside and out, take them both for a drive, and ask yourself: "Which car do I want to spend the next several years of my life driving?" I'll plunk down the extra cash for the G.
